Work gets underway on Colin Atkinson Pavilion 

WORK has begun on the refurbishment and expansion of the Colin Atkinson Pavilion at The County Ground in Taunton.
Included in the work that is being undertaken will be the addition of the Long Room viewing Gallery.To find out more about the work that is being undertaken log-on to www.somersetcountycc.co.uk .
 

WES Durston who made his Somerset debut back in 2002 has not been offered a further contract by the club. 
Durston whose existing contract expired at the end of the 2009 season gave a good account of himself when he was called into the team to replace Marcus Trescothick out in India in the CLT20 and many thought that this might have earned him a new contract. Brian Rose the Director of Cricket for Somerset said: "Sadly Somerset CCC are not able to offer Wes Durston a new contract for 2010." The Director added: "Somerset would like to thank Wes for all that he has done for the club over the years and wish him well for the future."
 

  Apple Am cricket team 

 Our team of cricket commentators collectively have hundreds of years of cricketing experience.
Not all those years actively playing of course, but our elite team of enthusiasts, who are all mostly "of an age", bring a mature perspective to their commentaries and an attitude to the sport that is sadly lacking at many other radio stations!
2009 marks our 3rd consecutive season providing patients at Musgrove Park Hospital with a ball-by-ball commentary on every one day match.
To have a permanent home all year round and to be able to commentate on every home game, is a distinct privilege.
To be provided with such amenities free of charge in this commercial world is very much appreciated.
Apple AM is the only hospital radio service in the county that has the resources, both technical and human, to broadcast live ball-by-ball coverage.
It goes without saying that the enthusiasm of our commentary team is also unique across the county and the organising abilities of Paul Sands, our Head of Sport and the team leader, in mustering up the crew, keeps his home phone very busy during the summer season!
