Simon Minnitt (Presenter)

How long have you been a presenter at Apple?

I started presenting a show in 2005 with a friend who was looking to start a career in broadcasting. That friend then went on to be a successful radio presenter for BFBS (British Forces Broadcasting Service) and I carried on the show on Apple. I have presented shows with three different people and am now going it alone.

Do you have any other broadcasting history?

None at all. Apart from appearing on Orchard FM when at primary school and reading the weather report!

Why is it important to you to volunteer time at Apple?

It is important because when lying in a hospital bed there isn't a huge amount of entertainment, and although my show can be quite random I believe it provides something a bit different to keep people occupied.

What's your favourite music genre and name some of your favourite artists and songs?

As do many of my fellow presenters at Apple, I like a wide range of music (as long as it is good!). A sample of some of my favourites would be Led Zeppelin, Johnny Cash, David Bowie and Florence and the Machine.

If you could interview anyone on your show, who would it be, why and what would you ask?

I would probably interview Johnny Depp as I am a big film fan. I think I would ask him fairly ridiculous questions to keep in line with my show as I am pretty sure he would go along with it.

If you could make any wish come true for the station, what would it be?

My wish would be that the station continues to broadcast and receive support from the community. We have a great radio station and a hard working team running it.

What's the name of your show, what do you play/talk about?

The name of my show is "Just a Minnitt!!" and I play a very mixed bag of music so there should be something for most people.

What's the highlight of your show and do you have any forthcoming "new" bits planned you'd like to tell the listeners about?

The main highlights are the local gig guide and the new entries to the UK top 40 singles chart. New features occasionally spring up such as weird news so keep tuning in to find out what we have in store.

When can we tune into your show?

Thursday evenings between 8pm and 10pm. Hope you can join me.
